Security | Email Fraud |
We have been advised that some of our members have received emails purporting to be from Unicom Credit Union asking them to complete online forms and confirm passwords, account numbers or credit card numbers and PIN's.
PLEASE NOTE: The email is a scam as Unicom Credit Union will NEVER ask you for this information via email or phone. If possible, avoid opening emails from unknown sources.
This type of scam is known as "phishing". You will notice that "phishing" emails will not address you by your name because they are blanket emails sent out to thousands of potential targets. "Phishing" emails try and instil a sense of urgency, claiming your account will be closed or suspended if you do not act quickly. DON'T TAKE THE BAIT! - never click on the links in the email even to have a look at them because they may contain dangerous viruses such as spyware that can capture your personal details. Delete such emails from your computer.
